One of the fixed points in our ‘normal’ year is Apple Day, which takes place in October at HEART. It’s an opportunity to celebrate all things apple. Apple Day is scheduled for Saturday 7th October in 2023.
Apart from that, we mainly look after our three main sites, plus the fruit trees at HEART.
Our latest activities have been to plant 15 Japanese flowering cherry trees in the War Memorial site as part of the Sakura Cherry Tree Project, the flagship project of the Japan-UK Season of Culture. We also had a new bench made and sited it near the cherry trees at the far end of the War Memorial site.
As well as regular maintenance work, during the last couple of years we’ve worked on the back of the Parish Centre at St Chad’s and the border of its carpark. More fruit trees and wildflowers too.
